Lovers of video games, anime, PC games and board games came together in the Yellowjacket Union (YU) to celebrate with each other at SAGA Con on Sat. March 4.
The convention had over six rooms that had various games, panels, virtual reality, local access network (LAN) party, video game, card tournaments, several board games and an Anime room just to name a few.
In the Anime room there were shows going from 11 a.m. to about 9 p.m. according to the official SAGA Con booklet. The shows included; Hunter X Hunter, Yuri on Ice, Drifters, Golden Time and Seiren.
The panel room had many different panels ranging from: Machine Learning, Beginners Japanese, Survival of the Apocalypse and Final Fantasy. One of the panels was the League of Legends panel. The students on the panel talked about things such as how they started playing the game, how long they’d been playing and some tips for people who were just starting out.
The Virtual Reality (VR) room was booming. VR headsets are used to immerse the player with displaying the video game in a set that completely covers the players’ eyes. This creates a simulated reality surrounding the player. Many VR games currently have titles in the horror genre of gaming.
Then there was the video game room. The game that many people were playing was good ole classic Mario. N64s were everywhere. Wii’s were everywhere.
The Con also had a variety of vendors selling things upstairs and downstairs. Vendors like; Sweeden Sweets, Northwood’s and Brian Minor. Other contributors were Level Up Games and Comics and Night Owl Games.
Some people dressed up as characters from their favorite games and shows and participated in the Cosplay contest.
SAGA Con had a plethora of people playing, dancing, laughing and just having fun. The annual con is put on by UWS student org, Superior Alliance of Gamers and Associates (SAGA).
