My name is Youmei Li, and I am from China. This is my first semester studying at UWS. During spring break, I went to Florida with the school. We had about 34 people on the trip, including eight international students, and there were also one leader and five assistants: Nathan, Joe, Jenna, Mikaela, Lexie and Emma. They were all kind, responsible, and they treated us very well. They got up earlier and stayed up later than all the students every day. If there are five stars to evaluate them, they deserve the full mark. As for me, I made many local friends during this trip. They were so friendly to me, they didn’t mind my bad English, and they were very patient to me.
The trip was fun and tough at the same time. We left campus at 2 pm, March 17, by vans. There were six vans and each of vans could carry five or six people. We spent almost two days to get to the destination—Pensacola, Florida. Compared to Superior, the weather is nice and warm but the wind is still strong. Even though we were tired at that time, we still went to the beach after we arrived. We swam in the ocean, and almost all of us swam a little far away from the sea coast and tried to feel the ocean deeper. During the trip, we went to see dolphins, went to the zoo, and visited the Navy Museum, where I met people from different parts of China. We also had camp fires every night—which I loved—and we played many exciting games I had never played before. In the whole trip, the most impressive thing to me was the sky and the ocean at night. Without city lights, I could clearly see the beautiful of the sky with thousands of shining stars.
And once we sneaked out to the beach. We walked a long way to get to the beach in order to hear the sounds of the sea and lay on the sand facing the stars! So amazing! We really had wonderful experience in this trip.
We left at 8pm on Thursday. We decided to drive back all day and all night long instead of staying in the tent one more night. We planned to get back to campus at 6pm on Friday, but our van got a nail in the tire, so we had to wait from 4am to 8am to fix the vehicle. However, each coin has two sides; we still had fun sitting on the street while we were waiting. Eventually, we came back at very early on Saturday morning at 3:30am. Even though I was so tired and siting in the van was challenging to me, I was still so happy that I decided to go on this trip. It is how an adventure trip is— full of challenge and lots of fun!
